"During the training, you get to participate in hands-on art workshops... having that 'window of time' is very rare for shelter staff and it completely transformed the way I work with the children."

"I just sent a staff member to the Windows Training and I already see changes in the ways she works with the children, listening to them and enjoying them in new ways."
The Windows Leadership Training prepares staff and volunteers from domestic violence agencies to lead creative art workshops for battered women and their children. Leaders need not be artists, and the Windows Program specializes in offering art as a resource to non-artists.

The two-day training session is often a very moving and profound experience and gives participants an inside understanding of what the art process will be like for the women and children in their groups. New leaders receive ongoing support so that their art program truly can be a permanent and effective part of each agency’s services.

NOTE: Agencies can also host a Sponsored Training session at their locale or we can set up one-on-one Distance Training conducted by our Program Director for those unable to travel to California. Individuals not affiliated with domestic violence agencies may attend AWBW trainings with prior approval. However, only agencies working with survivors are eligible for scholarships and ongoing program support.
