A Window Between Worlds offers Distance Training for organizations that would like to implement the Windows Program and are unable to host/sponsor or attend a training. AWBW’s Program Coordinator will guide leadership training via phone, fax and available online resources. Leadership status and a Certificate of Completion will be granted upon completion of the entire Distance Training program.

Distance Training is reserved for agencies committed to implementing regular weekly art sessions. With weekly sessions, the clients can count on the Windows program. For many, these sessions become their favorite highlight of the week and a safe place to express themselves.

Leader’s Distance Training is accomplished in three phases:

1. Orientation
This phase includes a review of AWBW’s structure and philosophy as well as program materials. AWBW will provide a Distance Learning timeline, training worksheets, Windows Training Manual, complete set of Leader’s Update newsletters to date (over 100 art workshops), a training packet including all reporting forms, and a start-up notebook.

2. Preparation
The second phase includes a discussion of leadership techniques including how to build safety and closure in workshops. A selection of workshops from Leader’s Update newsletters and Manual will be reviewed.

3. Program Launch
During this final phase, AWBW supports leaders in adapting the Windows process to their own individual style, situation, and client base. The Program Coordinator will check in regarding challenges each leader anticipates facing, and will help to brainstorm solutions.

Ongoing Support
AWBW is committed to supporting ongoing programs with the requirement that workshops are held and leaders stay active with reporting. Your participation in the monthly reporting process allows us to better support your work.

AWBW support includes providing monthly updates, new workshop ideas, exhibit and publication opportunities, and support via phone, fax, and online resources. For further details see Program Support.

Potential participation in grant funding
After three months of consistent monthly reporting, agencies may submit a request for funding for future scholarships toward training and art supplies.
