"Life is a journey, what you go through makes you who you are; and it ‘s important to remember that through the seasons of life, you are equipped with the love you need to heal yourself.  So believe in life, give yourself love, and trust your vision." —R.C.

The Asian Pacific Islander (A/PI) Art Journal, "Rising," was created to help strengthen the voices of A/PI domestic violence survivors, to share common experiences and to break the shame and isolation so often felt by survivors of violence.

Rising features artworks by 16 survivors of violence, and includes each artist’s words in her own language, including Chinese, Japanese, Punjabi, Urdu, Indonesian, Bangla, Thai, Tagalog, Korean, Hindi, and Gujarati.

This publication is a collaboration between A Window Between Worlds the Asian Pacific Women’s Center, Center for the Pacific Asian Family, Coalition to Abolish Slavery and Trafficking, Little Tokyo Service Center, and the South Asian Network.

Rising out of the pain of abuse is the strength and dignity of each woman who tells her story. Domestic violence thrives when communities are silent about its existence. As communities recognize and acknowledge domestic violence, there is hope for its prevention.
