Each life is a journey. We travel from place to place both physically and emotionally. On this journey there are things we want to take with us and things we want to leave behind. The exhibition Traveling Stories are visual statements that reflect who we are, where we have been and where we are going.

The goal of this art project is for the survivors of abuse to use the transformation of a suitcase as a means for expressing their own journey through life, including their unique experience of survival. The art experience is a source of healing, with an emphasis on the creative process.

Many of us are not comfortable talking openly about the profound affect sexual and domestic violence has had on our lives. The women participating in this workshop found safety in using suitcases and passports to speak for them.  Our hope is that their stories will speak to you and break the silence surrounding domestic violence and sexual assault in our communities.
